Follow the Money: Elon Musk's X and Owes
This Bedtime Stories edition reveals the money troubles of the world's richest man, who's lately on a crusade against the world's most prominent Jewish organization. And: Hunter Biden faces indictment
Good evening after another crazy busy super-hot day, Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2023. And with another scorcher on the way tomorrow, I’m going to keep this one brief so we can all get to bed!
On This Day:
1522: One of Ferdinand Magellan’s five ships, which sailed from Spain in 1519, returns, the first voyage to circumnavigate the Earth. He wasn’t so lucky.
1915: The very first tank is produced in England. The name comes from the labels on the crates they were shipped in; To keep the armored vehicles a secret, soldiers were told the crates were being used to ship water to the troops, hence “tanks,” and the name stuck!
1995: Cal Ripken breaks Lou Gehrig’s record for most consecutive games played in Major League Baseball. The legendary and beloved former shortstop for the Baltimore Orioles still holds the record of 2,632, set in 1998.

WHO ELSE DOES ELON OWE? Last year, CNBC reported Musk had a net worth of about $250 billion and would be financing the purchase of Twitter “out of his own pocket,” which would make him the “most indebted CEO in America.” You ain’t kiddin’! According to a December article in the Washington Post, Musk borrowed from Prince Alwaleed bin Talal al Saud ($2 billion), The Qatar Investment Authority ($375 million), Binance ($500 million), Andreessen Horowitz ($400 million), Sequoia Capital ($800 million), Larry Ellison ($1 billion), Twitter founder Jack Dorsey ($1 billion), and additional financing to the tune of $13 billion from Bank of America, Morgan Stanley and Barclays banks.
