Without A Defense, Trump Is Fighting the Judge
I've got your guide to the latest claims in the historic insurrection federal trial, songs from Star Trek's first musical are hot on the charts, plus 8 habits that could mean living 24 extra years!
Good morning and thanks for rising up with me on this Monday, Aug. 7, 2023.
On this day in 1964: Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin resolution which formally ushered the U.S. military into the Vietnam conflict, which was in fact a war but never officially labeled as such. That’s just one of the lies the U.S. government told the American people about an era that cost the lives of almost 58,000 U.S. troops.
A decade later, Philippe Petit stunned the world by walking a tightrope between the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. Once he made it to the other roof, police arrested him, but Petit had made history with an incredible feat never done before and never repeated.
And it was on this day in 1990 that President George H. W. Bush ordered Operation Desert Shield to free Kuwait from the grip of Iraq’s Saddam Hussein. U.S. and allied troops were victorious but stopped short of invading Iraq… until Bush’s son took office in 2001.
Here Now the News:

Good luck with that! So far, that’s been Trump’s only defense other than claiming First Amendment protection. —NBC News and CNN
