DONALD TRUMP’S TRANSPHOBIC CAMPAIGN PROMISE: The former president vowed in a straight-to-camera video posted on his Truth Social platform yesterday that, if re-elected, he would punish doctors who provide gender-affirming care to minors. That was just one part of a historic campaign agenda to use federal power to target transgender Americans.
WHAT TRUMP SAID:
Trump pledged that he would direct several federal agencies to police and ultimately “stop” gender-affirming care for minors, which he equated to “child abuse” and “child sexual mutilation.”
He promised that the federal government would only recognize two genders — male and female, as assigned at birth — and said he would also prohibit any federal agency from doing work to “promote the concept of sex and gender transition at any age," not just for minors.
Trump also said he’d push schools to “promote positive education about the nuclear family” and “the roles of mothers and fathers.” — NBC News

FIRST TARGET: Trustees at New College of Florida in Sarasota, six of whom DeSantis recently appointed, directed staff to draft a policy that would shutter diversity offices at the public liberal arts institution and replaced the school’s president, mere hours after the governor’s announcement. They agreed to name Richard Corcoran, who previously served as education commissioner under DeSantis and is a former Republican House speaker, to lead the school on an interim basis beginning next month. — Washington Post
