As far as the Chicago Seven goes, I was on the National Mall in DC at the tail end of a massive demonstration over the verdict. After the smoke had cleared (literally; trash cans were set on fire), a man approached me and my husband. He was on holiday from England and had been kicked out when the museum he was visiting closed because of the protest. Totally oblivious, he then went to another museum, also closed. He said, “They won’t let you go anywhere in this bloody town!”
